The 93-00 850/V70 wagon models suffer from a disconnected and rubbery feeling rear end, due in part to the delta-link design and large tunnel created by the wagon body. Upgraded springs, shocks, and sway bars help, but there is a lot of flex in the rear body due to its lack of bracing.

Typically, a rear strut brace is fitted to a vehicle to tighten up the rear end of the vehicle. However, the shock mounts on the 93-97 850 and 98-00 x70 models are weak and are not load bearing. A traditional strut brace would not be very effective for this reason - the flex is in the body itself not in the shock mounts.

We instead concentrated our efforts on developing a Rear Cross Brace that braces the body between the rear frame rails, a much more effective location. The QBM 93-00 850/V70 Wagon Rear Cross Brace mounts to the 3rd row seat belt mounts, which are reinforced and are the strongest point in the entire rear cargo area. The brace is constructed of heavy-walled tubing that's TIG-welded for strength, and is has a solid one-piece design with no moving joints to flex. The result is a brace that is very effective at improving the chassis rigidity, helping to deliver crisp handling and a more connected feeling with the rear suspension. A: More than likely. The QBM 850/V70 Wagon Rear Cross Brace mounts across the very end of the spare tire well. It also mounts almost against the floor and under the cargo panels. This is an extremely confined space and it would be difficult to install any stereo equipment in the tiny space that the QBM 850/V70 Wagon Rear Cross Brace takes up. Therefore, it should be compatible with most custom stereo installations. In fact, stereo installations could utilize the QBM 850/V70 Wagon Rear Cross Brace (for example, mounting capacitors, crossovers, or other small awkward components to the QBM brace).
